After spending time colouring each character frame of my project, I got to work on creating backgrounds. As I struggle with backgrounds, I gave myself lot of time to do this; wanting to make them detailed but still achieve the look I intended them to with a simple style and limited colour pallet whilst still building an aesthetic for the world as a whole. As the initial world you start in is a small Village known as "Pastel Village" I wanted the Aesthetics of the homes to seem very cute and round, limiting my colour pallets to light browns and different shades of pink and purple. Below is a still of one of the backgrounds used within my project (without any of the final shading included to achieve the mood needed for the final product. Here you can see the rounded areas of the aesthetic in places like the doors and windows as I wanted to follow a simplistic design that echoes that of an old village with the homes mirroring cute cottages.
Here is the final product with all the shading. You can see that once I changed the overall mood of the scene, the colours changed even while retaining the same aesthetic as before despite the colour scheme and shading.
